FCW's Altchek To Be Honored by Jewish Hall of Fame

Charles Altchek, a senior striker at Harvard who played for the FC Westchester ’85 Boys will be awarded the Marty Glickman outstanding Jewish scholastic athlete of the year at the upcoming induction ceremony at the Jewish Hall of Fame.  Also receiving the Glickman Award will be North Carolina sophomore midfielder Yael Averbuch of Montclair, N.J.

Altchek of Rye, N.Y. -- whose sister currently plays for the FC Westchester ’93 Girls --  was the Ivy League player of the Year and participated in this past January’s MLS Combine. He captained the Harvard Crimson last fall, finishing with a team-high 12 goals accumulating 31 goals in his career.

At the induction ceremony at which Altchek will receive his award, the following will be inducted into the Jewish Hall of Fame: ABC/ESPN announcer Bonnie Bernstein, the late Howard Cosell, Madison Square Garden George Kalinsky, six-time Olympic swimming gold medal winner Mark Spitz, Olympic medal-winning high jumper Dwight Stones and  Special Olympian Craig Ludin.
